  • Momma Don't Take My Kodachrome Away!
The end of an era passed in humble surroundings; Dwayne's Photo Lab in Parsons, Kansas, to be specific. On Thursday, December 30th, 2010, they processed the very last roll of Kodachrome. Ever. Kodak has ceased manufacturing it and the last functional processing system is being disassembled and sold as scrap.
  • While many of us who shoot color have moved on to digital, anyone who's shot color for long and who really cares about their work is likely to have a long and colorful history with Kodachrome. Sure, other great positive films came along. Take Fuji Velvia for example. Luscious color! But even with a 60 year development advantage over Kodachrome I can't seem to find the Paul Simon song about Velvia on iTunes. Okay, it's an emotional subject. I'll let it go. Rest in Peace Kodachrome.
